From its earliest beginnings with the development of the Minimal Disease concept in 1962, PIC and its advisors have led the thinking and implementation of best practices in swine animal health for systems. PIC's desire to establish new herds of high health status led to development of MEW (medicated early weaning), which in turn lead to Isowean, and mulit-site production systems. PIC has also pioneered practical implementation of on-farm eradication programs for TGE (transmissible gastroenteritis), PRRS (porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome), FMD (food and mouth disease). PIC's Health Principles are the inspiration of many of the biosecurity protocols seen in the industry.
PIC continues to develop and implement new technology that will positively impact its customers. PIC invests in research and development of new approached to health, including genomics, research on disease transmission and biosecurity, and research into case studies within PIC and customer systems.
