Company Structure
PIC Philippines, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of PIC International. This means complete control over technical and commercial policy and ensures the faithful implementation of PIC values in the conduct of our business in the Philippines. The benefit to you is the assurance of a continually improving range of breeding stock and support services. The most up-to-date genetic stock with superior health status was imported to produce lines chosen to match the Philippine market. Continuous infusion of genetic material from PIC's North American and European centers of genetic improvement - where pure lines are constantly improved and developed - ensures that the herd and local producers will continue to stay abreast of PIC's global program and pioneering work in Marker Assisted Selection. The herd is recorded on PICtraqT, PIC's global BLUP (Best Linear Unbiased Prediction) system to support local selection decisions and benchmark our progress relative to PIC populations in other locations.
Milestones
1994 - The first significant order for PIC breeding stock which totaled 2,062 gilts and boars was imported into the country.
February 1998 - PIC Philippines, Inc. was established as a wholly owned Company.
August 1998 - The first high health GGP stock were imported from PIC's European Genetic Nucleus to start the Luzon genetic pyramid.
1999 - PIC delivers the first locally produced high health stock to customers in Luzon.
2000 - The second high health Production Nucleus was stocked (Mindanao) to serve customers in Southern Philippines.
2001 - PIC makes available locally produced healthy genetic improvement nationwide.
2002 - The first high health hysterectomy was performed successfully in the country to introduce a new line into a PIC Nucleus herd.
2003 - PIC makes available locally its enhanced GeneTransferT(GT) boar products which incorporate gene marker technology for the professional pork producer.
2005 - PIC establishes its 3rd Nucleus herd in the Visayas Region, expanding its production pyramid and giving producers in the area more access to healthy, genetically superior breeding stock.
